Red Stripe Lager

Red Stripe is a Lager brewed by Desnoes and Geddes Limited, which was originally a soft drink manufacturer started by Kingston, Jamaica natives. The lager which is now being brewed in Bedford, England and Jamaica was introduced in 1928 and is about 4.7% alcohol. The name of the beer comes from bold, diagonal red stripe logo on the bottle.
It is unlike any lager we’ve ever had. The taste is hard to describe, but it seems a little more happy? It has a sweet aftertaste, which we speculate could be due to the abundance of sugar cane in the Caribbean.
Red Stripe’s quote on the back of each bottle says, “We embody the spirit, rhythm, and pulse of Jamaica and its people.”
We agree completely with this quote. The drink tastes so different and carefree that we feel as if we are being transported to Jamaica (or what our imaginations would think Jamaica would feel like). From the moment it hits your lips, this smooth feeling spreads across your body. This beer is definitely the proper drink for you when you need an escape or break from the occasional repetitiveness of life. 4/5

on a cold rainy day this is the beer I turn to. One sip of Red stripe dries up my sorrows as the fresh taste and the reinvigoration with a jamaican spirit brings me back to the sunny beaches of my hometown of south florida. Many argue that this beer is simply for the carribean coast in the warm sweltering days of summer. However, I believe this beer can be most enjoyed and most appreciated on those dark lonely nights when your afraid to leave the fireside for fear of frost bite on your toes. It gives you that shivering feeling down your spine when you uplift yourself with a six pack of RED STRIPE.
it also taught me to dance…or at least allowed me to express my self in an art form I never knew i possessed
That weird taste is akin to sugar cane and playdoh. This taste harkens me back to days of drinking cold medicine and clay arts & crafts in the 2nd grade. I then remember my distinct dislike of modeling clay and could barely finish my red stripe/ much less the 6 pack. My suggestion is to try one before getting a pack.
Well, what we can say about Red Stripe is that it has made a lasting memory (positive or negative) on many of its drinkers. Paul, what we may suggest is that perhaps you are just not a beer drinker?
